The MUA, the single African currency

The MUA is a monetary fiction, a utopian currency that aims to replace the CFA franc, the colonial currency still present in the former French colonies.
In a previous project titled "KOSSI SOSSOU," named after an imaginary journalist, Alex Ayivi questioned Togo's political future in light of the corruption of its elites. With MUA, Alex Ayivi appropriates history and proposes a future.

From a list of African politicians, Alex Ayivi has sketched out a paper pantheon, between a political fresco and an accumulation of these anecdotes
popular that are the basis of myths. Drawing on images gleaned from his research, he composes drawings that evoke in sound strokes some essential figures of African history, from the beginnings of independence in the 1960s to today.
Alex Ayivi then takes these characters into a series of denominations with a single face value - ironically set at 99 MUA...
Through their political action in their respective states, Patrice Lumumba, Kwame Nkrumah, Julius Nyerere, Thomas Sankara, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, these men and women have all worked for the continent: by creating the MUA, by expressing his desire that it one day become a pan-African reality, Alex Ayivi says that it is perhaps time to grant these great figures the place they deserve, to give Africa back its history, to grant it the power to create and celebrate its own myths.
