Caroline Dahyot

On the walls of my house

Mixed media.
Exhibition available in several formats.

Meeting Caroline Dahyot means first of all meeting her world.
It could be safely said that she literally lives in her work: in her villa "Verveine" perched above the English Channel, Caroline Dahyot has created an ideal, protective world for herself and for others. She has thus made her home a nest, where those she loves are safe and secure, where she can make her voice, her inner voices, heard.
Her restorative art helps spread a message of universal art. This is what strikes you when you approach her; this love that emanates from her, that she transmits to each person who crosses her path. Like a witch of good, she creates dolls and drawings in the image of those who are dear to her: her children, her friends or even her lovers,
which she adorns with a cat's head, transforming them into imaginary creatures who cannot disappoint her.

At home, she covered the floor, walls and ceiling with colorful frescoes mixing abstract patterns, portraits, animals, flowers and, here and there, like conversation bubbles, questions, maxims and injunctions, to oneself or to others...
Today, the walls of the Villa Verveine overflow with sheets that Caroline hangs in the spaces that host her work, ever more peaceful, ever more controlled.
She paints, she draws, she sews, she mends...

Caroline Dahyot

Born in 1968, Caroline Dahyot received - as if out of step - a strictly religious education. From this experience, she drew a marked rejection of authority and the feeling that things were done outside of her control.
