It was in the spring of 2020, during the worrying and uncertain period of confinement, when the world shut down, that the series "Angels Falling" was born.
In Anya Belyat-Giunta's studio reigned an inhabited, soothing, and comforting silence, populated by a thousand invisible creatures, perhaps from another time. Initially, there were a few sheets of stone paper, a medium the artist had never worked with before. The material of the paper (a rough mineral powder) began to interact with the liquids that diluted the colors, fixing them around the abrasive particles, spreading them into luminous sheets, when the artist wasn't deliberately applying them with a brush.
The sheets of stone paper are first and foremost the maps of a formal research: Anya Belyat-Giunta begins most of the time without premeditation, as if, once the technique is chosen, she abandons to her body the responsibility of the pictorial gesture - others would speak here of the unconscious.
It was then that, little by little, in the contemplation of the work produced in these troubled times, biblical references, myths, tales around the ambivalence and enigma of existence came to light, making palpable, through the magic of the word, the presence of fertile forms and invisible energies - angels who fall...
Our prints are made to order using pigment inkjet printing. This technique gives our prints exceptional durability and incredible color reproduction.
Reproductions in A1 and A0 formats are printed on 180 gsm premium matte coated paper.
Fine art prints are made on two types of paper, at the artist's discretion:
• Canson Rag Photographique 210 gsm, an ultra-smooth paper.
OR
• Hahnemühle William Turner 190 gsm, a textured paper.
Both papers are 100% cotton, museum quality, acid-free and OBA-free (Optical Brighteners Agent), meeting the highest standards for conservation.
Our packaging is made from recycled materials.
