Through these journeys, Tendance Floue sought to experience the paradoxical freedom and constraint offered by walking. The slowing down of time, submission to the weather, and physical exhaustion change one's relationship with the places one crosses, the landscapes one discovers, and the encounters one has during this slow journey. The vertigo of freedom, the exhilaration of this rare availability to oneself and others, the unusual acuity of the gaze on one's surroundings, all the same. A resolutely open project: thirty-one photographers, including eighteen guests of the collective, in dialogue with writers, illustrators, painters, scientists... invited by them for a few hours or a few days, decided to live this experience. Their journeys take them into the cracks of the French territory. AZIMUT is the result of this collective creative endeavor, this desire to practice photography, this confrontation with the unknown and documentary freedom. The Azimut collective exhibition was presented at the Nicéphore Niépce Museum in Chalon-sur-Saône until September 2021, and the individual stories can be discovered in the beautiful book “AZIMUT, une marche photographique en France” (AZIMUT, a photographic walk in France), published by Éditions Textuel in 2020. These exhibitions are available for purchase exclusively by municipalities in the regions crossed by the AZIMUT walk.
