On the other side of the sea

The series 'From the Other Side of the Sea' invites the viewer into a parallel space-time, a strange universe that seeks to reflect the Anthropocene, the current geological era characterized by visible signs of the influence of human beings on their environment, particularly on the climate and the biosphere.

Undulating in space, merging with the elements of the composition, the hybrid forms created by the artist are the agglomerates of this plastic waste that we see invading the planet: “…the landfills have replaced nature, they flood the surface, swallow the world, they are now the mountains, the curves, they move with the wind… the plastic becomes organic, merges with the flora… on the edge of the precipice of self-destruction, life and the absence of life struggle silently to draw a new beauty…”.

In his paintings, Clément Bedel attempts to define the precise moment from which, just after the end, a new future will be possible, a fragile but living future: on the other side of the sea, lost on the horizon, beyond our reach and yet under our influence...
