Carte Blanche AZIMUT

Step #08

Exhibition available in several formats.

In stages, and passing the baton, 31 photographers travel across French territory at the invitation of the Tendance Floue collective.

Everyone's itinerary is free. Sunken paths or paved roads, straight or winding, the photographer-walkers have only one imperative to respect: be on time for the meeting arranged for the person who follows them.

These solitary journeys, subject to the slowing down of time, the whims of the weather and the exhaustion of the body, gradually sketch out a common path.

From Montreuil in Seine-Saint-Denis to Saint-Jean-de-Luz in the Pyrénées Atlantiques, without any set-up or direction, everyone delivered an unusual photographic and poetic performance. The destination doesn't matter; only the azimuth, the path, matters.

Pascal Aimar took over at kilometer 1101, in Lapalisse, in Allier.

Pascal Aimar

Since the 1980s, during his wanderings, Pascal Aimar has photographed moments of life in Bolivia, New York, Barcelona, India and Japan.

Returning to Paris in 1992, he became a still photographer for the cinema, then a cameraman and director for television. His work, guided by the pleasure of the snapshot, is built in the footsteps of his mentors W. Eugène Smith, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Josef Koudelka.
