After a few years of reporting, tired of chasing the news, he turned to portraiture and "framed" artists, politicians, actors and intellectuals (notably Pierre Soulages, Salman Rushdie, François Hollande and Vladimir Putin).
Associated with the Comédie Française, Stéphane Lavoué produces official portraits of the troupe and his images illustrate the seasonal programs.
2018 winner of the Prix Nièpce Gens d'Images and finalist for the 2018 Leica Oskar Barnack Prize.
