Frédéric Henninger
“I paint spontaneously and intuitively.
I apply colors according to my impressions of the nature that surrounds me, its transient atmospheres, the dynamics of its changes, its lights, its smells, its plants, its stones, its soils.
(...) One after the other, each layer freezes a given time: the deposit of the layers of paint imitates the geological formation of nature and the structuring of human memory.
Constantly evolving, the painting is formed, so to speak, by concretion and constitutes a record of successive pictorial times (the stages which led to the painting that I show to the public) .
After obtaining the DNSEP at the HEAR (Haute École des Arts du Rhin) in Mulhouse in 2001 and several professional experiences in the artistic field (assistant engraver at R. Bucciali, manager at Crac Alsace under the direction of Hilde Teerlinck), Frédéric Henninger began teaching visual arts. Having obtained the agrégation, he resumed his artistic practice and initially experimented with the relationship between painting and volume with the question of landscape in the background.
He then returned to painting as a means of expression and began in 2021 with the Concretions series a reflection on the analogies between painting and the geological formation of the Earth.
