Fanny Allié was born in Montpellier. She graduated from the National School of Photography in Arles in 2005 and moved to Brooklyn (United States) where she has lived ever since.
Mixing textiles and recycled materials, she explores the spaces we inhabit, starting with the body, this first place that contains us, constantly questioning belonging, presence, passage, the ephemeral.
Princeton University, Equity Gallery, DOT Art, AIR Gallery, and Fresh Window Gallery, the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, and St. Eustache Church in Paris have held solo exhibitions.
Her work has been published in the New York Times, Artnews, NY Magazine, Brooklyn Magazine, Hyperallergic, Le Monde diplomatique, and Marie-Claire Italie. Fanny Allié was awarded the 2020 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship in the sculpture/craft category.
